Naming Alkenes – A simple approach
Naming structures is not my favorite thing to do. However, there is an easy way of figuring it out. In this video, I walk you through step-by-step though to show you how simple naming alkenes can really be.
Start by finding the longest linear chain
Always start by looking for the longest linear carbon chain. Then, number this chain in both directions.
The reason for numbering both ways – it will allow to find out which direction will give you the lowest number for the alkene.
