I am always looking for new ways to simplify organic chemistry that can potentially help lessen the burden of painfully memorizing name after name or reaction after reaction. Here are a few tips for remembering some of the carbonyl functional groups.

If we look at the word ether as eth’OR‘, the T is next to an H, not the ‘OR‘.
On any exam, the professor is going to provide you with many words. I say…why not use them to your full advantage. So, hopefully the next time you look at these words, you will not see them the same way!
